Funding has been approved for the continuation of the highly popular student bus pass for young people travelling from High Peak into Greater Manchester to go to college. This initiative was launched by Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward at the start of the current academic year to enable students to access further education opportunities even when these are outside our area. Earlier this week, around 80 delegates from local authorities, charities, and the public and private sector gathered in Derby to discuss homelessness in the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) region. Delegates received an update on EMCCA's work to research and gain a comprehensive understanding of homelessness in the region. This work has involved engaging with key stakeholders, covering all aspects of homelessness across all sectors. The roundtable, attended by Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, highlighted the challenges and issues people are facing in our region, illustrated by stories of lived experience.
