🎶 On the second day of giving, the planet gave to me… our special rivers flowing clean! Rivers are lifelines for people, wildlife and nature. The health of a river anywhere impacts ecosystems everywhere. By giving today, you’re helping riverkeepers and protectors clean up, restore and protect these vital waterways. Celebrate the season by supporting the teams of staff and volunteers caretaking these precious rivers that help create special memories for adventurers, family outings and the wildlife that rely on them. These are some of the many organizations featured at EarthGives.org right now - a great "green" gift for your family, and all families. @mo.river.relief @3rwaterkeeper @pugetsoundkeeper @blackwarriorriverkeeper @winyahriversalliance @delawareriverkeeper @mkeriverkeeper @snakeriverfund And if you'd like, keep the green gifts flowing by setting up a “family fundraiser” on behalf of one of these groups. It takes about 10 minutes and it’s free. Share your own special page with others to invite more generosity. Ring in the holidays with 12 Days of Green Giving at EarthGives.org today through December 31st. 🎅❄️🌲 #SaveOurRivers #CleanWater #RiverKeepers #GivingGreen #generosity #rivers #waterkeepers #fishing #drinkingwater #MerryChristmas

🎶 On the first day of giving, the planet gave to me… one wildlife healer! Did you know? The average size of global wildlife populations has declined by a staggering 73% from 1970 to 2020. This alarming trend threatens the balance of our ecosystems, which are vital for our food supply and the planet's well-being. Wildlife nonprofit provide safe havens for injured animals and those threatened by development, wildfires, and other tragedies. These organizations, often relying on dedicated volunteers and 24/7 care, work tirelessly to protect and rehabilitate these precious creatures. Your support is crucial. By donating, you help these groups return our furry, feathered, and fuzzy friends back to the wild, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations. In good times and bad, our love for fellow humans is the most consistent renewable energy. And some turbulent times are ahead for those on the front lines of climate, water and air pollution, protecting wildlife, renewables and conservation. Earth Gives is a small and scrappy nonprofit that holds a slightly different role in this space. One that works to connect people like you to organizations tackling climate change - whether they're in your community or doing work you're interested in. That might seem odd, yet connection is where magic happens. Why power up the community of "earth givers"? Because we discovered that only 2% of philanthropy goes to climate nonprofits and just 0.5% to climate justice. The Earth Gives platform showcases more than 100 U.S. and Indigenous groups working on wildlife, conservation, renewables, environmental education, plastic pollution and more. Help us kick off 12 days of green giving this Friday. There are a number of ways to make a gift to the place we call home: Donate, set up a fundraiser you get to share with friends, set up a recurring donation, repost our posts on the 12 days. Rinse and repeat your generosity! With all our 💚, thank you. EarthGives🌎org 12 Days of Giving Green Friday, December 20 through December 31.

Friday, November 22nd was Climatebase Fellowship graduation day! It was an emotional and happy morning as we fellows and the incredible Climatebase team reflected on our hard work while celebrating all of our accomplishments throughout the 12-week program. 🎉 🎓 The fellowship by the numbers: • There were approximately over 4,000 applicants to Cohort 6. • Just a little under 600 fellows accepted. • Over 195 expert guest speaker, job seeker, founder and capstone project support sessions, curriculum, and office hours were held - all to support our goals of joining the Fellowship. • Over 115 guest speakers, employers, past fellows, and instructors helped expand our knowledge in the climate space. • And lastly, over 1,685 Climatebase fellow introductions were made through the program’s optional weekly 1:1 matching meetings. 🤯 The grand total of finishing this program feeling empowered, hopeful, and ready to save the planet alongside many newfound climate friends? Priceless. ✨ I’m so happy to have taken the leap by applying to this program when I did. I couldn’t be fortunate enough to be included in a more incredible group of humans! Not to brag, but we’re apparently the most successful cohort yet 😜! A huge and heartfelt thank you to the Climatebase team for all your hard work and for providing so many resources for another group of people to get out there and fight the most wicked problem facing us today. Shoutout to Tovah Cook for inviting me to join your capstone project’s team to work on the Climate TBD podcast (episode one is out now!). Designing for and speaking on a podcast was definitely not on my bingo card this year- or in life! 🤣 And a shoutout to Isabella Lang for including me on your Tree Health capstone project! It’s been so fun collaborating with you and the rest of the team to bring your project to life through design! I’m excited to see how far we can take both projects! 🌳 I planned to post this sooner, but the end of the Fellowship has been busier than expected! I will also hopefully be posting my last Fellowship video to my Alyssa on Climate social media account soon too; thank you to those who follow! I’m so proud to add the Climatebase Fellowship to my list of accomplishments this year on my climate journey! If you’re interested in joining the next cohort, applications for Cohort 7 are open now!! I’d be more than happy to connect and provide a referral link to help shave off some of the cost! “On spaceship Earth, we're all a crew!” 🌱 🌎 Evan Hynes Vesselina Apostolova Matthias Muehlbauer Neil Yeoh Aaron Pins Kendall Jenkins

Plug into a packed hour of insight about the climate conversations we need to be having. With conservatives. With youth. With one another. As the well-known climate scientists Katharine Hayhoe often says, our most important climate action is to talk more about it - about the challenges and the solutions. Earth Gives' Community Commons: Impact Makers program is specifically for climate and environmental nonprofits that want to expand audiences for their work. Thursday, Dec. 19. 3:30pm EST; 12:30pm PST Our guests: 🎙️ Bob Inglis is a former Republican Congressman and founder of RepublicEN. His work at the nonprofit engages conservative communities in climate action. 🎙️ Kerrie Carfagno, Ph.D., is an environmental and sustainability educator at Georgetown University. 🎙️Andrew Bernier, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of STEM and sustainability education at the University of Cincinnati. Kerrie and Andrew will help us understand how students and young leaders are shaping climate action now and for the future. How can our organizations reach out and engage with these key audiences? 📅 Register today: https://bit.ly/3OSONQw #ClimateAction #storytelling #climatechange

Such a great resource. Dire and doing together. Check out the latest.
As some of those whose lives have already been upended by the climate crisis make their case at the International Court of Justice, yet another vulnerable community is battered by an extreme storm, leaving hundreds if not thousands dead. The ICJ ruling can’t come fast enough (expected September 2025). Plus more stories of outrage and optimism (because we need both). 🌱 OPTIMISM 1: The UK published a major action plan to decarbonise the grid by 2030, aiming for 95% low-carbon electricity. The ambitious but achievable plan requires serious ramping up of wind and solar. 🔥 OUTRAGE 1: Cyclone Chido swept through the French Indian Ocean archipelago of Mayotte creating “a major humanitarian crisis” with hundreds, possibly thousands dead. The storm was the most powerful to hit the area in nearly a century. 🌱 OPTIMISM 2: Marginalised communities were elevated at the landmark International Court of Justice hearings with the court hearing from those at the forefront of the climate crisis. The case will advise on states’ responsibilities around climate. 🔥 OUTRAGE 2: Research has shown that the UK is “a world leader in the legal crackdown on climate activism” with British police arresting environmental protesters at nearly three times the global average rate. 🌱 OPTIMISM 3: China’s demand for oil is set to peak in 2025, five years ahead of schedule, with the speed of its transition to electric mobility taking oil producers and investors by surprise. 🔥 OUTRAGE 3: 3. Over 50% of Alaska’s population of common murres (around 4 million birds) died in a marine heatwave in 2014-2016. The population has not recovered since, suggesting that the heatwave may have led to an ecosystem shift. As always each news item we’ve included is a complex story in its own right, reduced here to a single line as a potential signpost for further reading. You can find the links to the news sources in the comments. 🎧 Feed your ears with more outrage and optimism - don’t miss this Thursday’s ‘December Mailbag’ - our last episode of the year! Wherever you get your podcasts.
