Allen Warch, Dollar General’s vice president and division merchandise manager for food and fresh produce, was recently honored as one of seven ‘People Who Made a Difference’ by Mass Market Retailers. The recognition highlights individuals making significant contributions in the retail space, impacting consumers and communities. This week, our philanthropy and operations teams visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - ALSAC® in Memphis, Tenn. to gift toys and DG gift cards to patients and their families. Additionally, DG donated $150,000 to further the life-saving mission of St. Jude: Finding cures. Saving children.® Since 2006, Dollar General and customer’s in-store donations have provided more than $34.5 million to St. Jude to help them lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Care Each year, Dollar General stores across the country partner with nonprofit organizations to help ensure children in their local community have something under their tree. For District Manager Tracy V., helping support military veterans and their families through H.E.R.O.E.S. Care is a passion project. Tracy’s district, including nine store teams in St. Louis and Jefferson Counties in Missouri, have been partnering with the nonprofit for three years. “I am very passionate when it comes to the military and have several family members who serve. I know what it is like for veterans and the struggles they face, including the support parents need while a loved one is serving. H.E.R.O.E.S. Care offers life-changing services and being a part of this organization is very rewarding.” Thank you, Tracy and team, for Serving Others!

Dollar General’s mission is #ServingOthers and helping address food accessibility is our passion. Earlier this month, in celebration of Thanksgiving, 17 DG employees across multiple areas of the business came together to exhibit our mission and volunteer with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. In addition to packing 75 bundles of rice, helping with labeling and cleaning – DG presented a $1,000 donation to the food bank. “Beyond supporting one of the many communities DG calls home, the experience helped build a sense of community amongst our DG family,” shared Suman Pattnaik, vice president, IT engineering, who organized the volunteer effort. Last month, DG hosted an event with food and fellowship for ~150 store managers, district managers and regional directors from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia to thank them for their efforts and service to their community.
