DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office reposted this
I had the opportunity to speak with the staff and leadership of the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) at the Pentagon, whose mission is to accelerate DoD adoption of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). In my discussion I shared 5 areas of focus in the Joint Staff I believe could greatly benefit from their AI and data solutions: ▪ Shaping the Future: We can’t predict the future, but we can shape it with data informed decisions. ▪ Building a Common Operating Picture: Data can create a common picture across the Combatant Commands. ▪ Creating Bandwidth: Application of AI can free up brain power to focus on how we move forward. ▪ Integrating by Design: There is risk to sharing data, but there could be greater risk of not sharing – our policies must ensure we leave the door open for Allies and partners. ▪ Getting Ready for Conflict: With the help of historical data, we can forecast the future operational environment so we can better prepare. As CDAO continues to build out data solutions through interactions with industry, experimentation, and observation of our joint operations, they are driving us into the future. We are looking to them to ensure we make sound and informed decisions that move us forward.
