Autonomous vehicles + electric vehicles = the intersection of two massive mobility trends shaping the future of transportation. While our focus at DG Matrix is on electrification, there's another major mobility trend that is impossible to ignore: autonomous vehicles. As companies like Waymo expand their fleets nationally, bringing autonomous vehicles in cities across the country, there's a significant opportunity to merge the two trends of autonomous and electric mobility. When we deploy EV charging infrastructure for autonomous vehicles, there are several requirements to consider: --> Higher-power charging. Since AVs are not constrained by the constraints of human drivers, they can run nearly 24/7 and need to get back on the road quickly. --> Ultra-high utilization rates. AV operations can be planned with exceptional accuracy, so charging infrastructure can be built for optimal utilization. This means chargers must be able to operate nearly continuously. --> Flexibility and efficiency with dynamic power sharing. Maximizing asset utilization is absolutely key to improve operational efficiencies. --> Small footprint. Most AVs are deployed in high-density urban areas, so charging infrastructure must be able to fit in tight spaces.
