It is our mission to provide leadership for the development of innovative and cost-effective programs to meet the needs of our county. DCIU serves more than 80,000 school-aged students and more than 6,000 educators on a regional basis. Direct instruction is provided to more than 15,000 students enrolled in DCIU’s Special Programs, Career and Technical Education and specialized programs. • Creating Joy! 🫶 Nursing Students from DCIU/DCTS Practical Nursing Program were thrilled to bring a little joy to residents at Fair Acres Geriatric Center this morning. They visited each floor of Fair Acres to create a snowman craft. The holiday craft was not only fun but also helped residents work on their Pincer Grasp to encourage fine motor skills. Creating holiday crafts together allows nursing students and nursing home residents to share joy, creativity, and companionship, weaving memories that brighten the season for both generations. The snowman craft created meaningful engagement between generations as the Fair Acres residents and DCTS students worked side-by-side on the projects. Conversation and laughter filled the rooms as they share stories and creative ideas. #WeAreTheDCIU #SpreadJoy
