About us
Davenport Industrial Railroad (DIR) operates 3 miles of track located in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center on the north side of Davenport, IA. DIR connects with the Canadian Pacific Railway in Eldridge, IA and offers regularly scheduled freight service, transloading, and railcar storage to a variety of customers in the Greater Quad Cities area. We offer transloading and warehousing services at our state-of-the-art Transload Center complete with a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse with rail and truck docks, and three separate staging tracks for transloading including spill containment structures. We provide our customers turn-key solutions from learning how to ship by rail for the first time to coordinating large regular shipments. It's been a busy summer at DIR and our team just finished building out a new transload pad for a new customer. Once the customer has their team complete our site training, installs drain pans and brings the rest of their equipment, we'll be taking multiple trucks off of I-80 every week. Last week was an exciting week for DIR. Not only did we receive our first load for a new customer, but we also unveiled and used our new transload conveyor for the first time. Recently overhauled by our shop forces, this conveyor is specifically designed for unloading (or loading) bottom dump style railcars full of a variety of dry bulk commodities including aggregates, road salt, fertilizers, grain, and more.
