Updates

  • Good police work alone can’t stop crime from happening. When Davenport Police looked at this year’s crime stats showing a drop in shots fired incidents, fewer stolen cars and fewer gunshot victims, we took a deeper look at what’s going right – and how to keep improving. Chief Jeffery Bladel explains how the community plays a key role in prevention and intervention.

  • Yesterday, the Davenport Fire Department spread some holiday cheer at CASI - Center for Active Seniors for their traditional Holiday Luncheon! Led by Fire Engineer Packy Dolan and Davenport Association of Professional Firefighters Local #17, they served up some food and smiles for hundreds of seniors. Fire Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a few elves made an appearance to add some festive fun to the celebration.

  • Every year, some of our Davenport Parks and Recreation staff attend the National Recreation and Park Association conference to stay educated on all things Parks and Recreation. This year, additional staff attended to present an ongoing City of Davenport initiative that has fostered strong relationships in our community. Sergeant Andrew Harris, Community Impact Team Supervisor for the Davenport Police Department; Allie McWilliams, Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Davenport; and Becca Niles, Senior Administration Services Manager for Davenport Parks and Recreation, recently attended the 2024 National Recreation and Parks Association Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia to present on The Good Neighbor Project. Highlighting the importance of partnerships throughout the community and collaboration between City staff, police, and neighborhoods, they provided attendees with an overview and understanding of this unique program. The success of GNP over the last four years is in large part due to the 130+ Good Neighbor Project members who have committed to staying active in the community and forging strong relationships within their neighborhoods.

  • Each year, the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) conference brings together over 1,000 law enforcement professionals, data analysts, and researchers to share innovative practices and tools for crime analysis and prevention. We are excited to highlight the exceptional personnel from the Davenport Police Department who presented valuable insights at this year's conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. In partnership with the National Institute of Justice, Davenport Police Analysts Allissa Hawk and Nick Fleischmann led two sessions focusing on the vital role analysts play in addressing gun violence including how analysts can use National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) leads. Thank you to our Davenport Police Department for your continued dedication to enhancing public safety through advanced analytics #IACA2024
