🛩 Planes 🚆Trains and Automobiles 🚑 This week we received a huge donation of £9,600 from Nexus, after Daft as a Brush was chosen by their staff as the charity of the year for 2023/24. They've jumped from planes, sold cakes and toy trains, and let us collect on Match days - all in the name of keeping our ambulances on the road and supporting north east cancer patients. 💙 Well done, and a very big thank you, to everyone at Nexus who got involved and supported us 💙

Last night The Chartered Insurance Institute of Newcastle Upon Tyne hosted our annual quiz. The quiz was organised and hosted by our Young Professionals Group, who have a track record of putting on a good night. A special thank you to Victoria Basara Dip CII | Craig Chandler | Selorm Kofi Domeh for the smooth running of the evening. The proceeds from the annual quiz are donated to the president's chosen charity. Our newly elected president, Omar Din, has chosen the local charity DAFT AS A BRUSH CANCER PATIENT CARE CHARITABLE TRUST for the year, as they work closely with the local community to support cancer patients in attending their appointments (sometimes on a daily basis). If you would like to know more about future events, please keep an eye on our local website: https://lnkd.in/eiPwx5Ps #CII #LocalInstitute #Newcastle #Annualquiz

So about 6 months ago, our LEPP team in Newcastle (Local Environmental Practice Plan - the people who make our local offices more sustainable) identified that a number of our Mott MacDonald staff popped to a local coffee shop before arriving in the office. Simple maths identified that if only 5% of an office of 200 people bought a single use coffee cup every day, our Newcastle office generated around 2,500 cups for recycling or to landfill per annum. So they started discussions with various internal Motts groups around a reusable cup and, 6 months later, we now have a branded reusable and collapsible cup. We've not solved any of the big world challenges, but lots of little steps will make a difference! Free to our staff, we just ask they make a voluntary contribution to our NE charity of the year, DAFT AS A BRUSH CANCER PATIENT CARE CHARITABLE TRUST. Well done for the leadership on this Lisa Henderson.

We're thrilled to welcome Ben and his music to the evening, and can't wait to experience the musical journey he takes the audience on, all in support of Daft as a Brush.
