Why the hell would we drive 1,400kms in one week? To visit our incredible credit union partners across the east coast of course! 🚗💨 Sukhman and I just wrapped up our east coast tour last week, meeting the teams doing the important work in fostering local communities. Each stop just reinforced to us how unique each credit union is and how pivotal they are to their local economy. These credit unions pride themselves in being community-first, pushing all profits they make back to local businesses, local hospitals, community centres and industry. 🩵 Coastal Financial Credit Union: covered a full expense of a home for doctors to live in so that the community could get access to medical professionals. 🩵 Cape Breton Credit Union: provided low-rate car loans to ensure their members can afford to get to work. Here's a quick recap of our journey: 📍 Yarmouth: met with local business owners to talk about the benefits of a simple to use, credit union backed loyalty program. We also saw opening day for Lobster Season at 4am. 📍 Halifax: we had dinner with the one and only Carrie Forbes, and also were lucky to have a drink with Andrew Kennedy to catch up about the digital changes in the Atlantic Credit Union space and more fun topics things like Hunting in Nova Scotia and moving out east! 📍 Antigonish: enjoyed lunch with a good friend and mentor in the CU space that has helped us make this platform so awesome. 📍 Cape Breton: Wrapped it up with Shawn Moore, visited the branch, and took in the stunning local scenery. Between plenty of laughs and riveting debates, they also had the pleasure of hearing so many stories from local business owners. Rumour has it (pending confirmation, of course) that Sukhman is so charmed he’s considering a mortgage and moving to Yarmouth himself!
