The smell of tears / Le parfum des larmes 👁️ 💦 In this photo taken a few months ago, I'm with Arnaud Guggenbuhl from Givaudan, smelling fragrances inspired by... tears. Dedicated to the olfactory preferences of Gen Z, the exhibition "What is Love?" highlighted new codes of love and seduction... where crying is not necessarily seen as a weakness. The olfactory prototypes created by Givaudan's perfumers are presented here in handmade glass bottles where the fragrances flow slowly like tears. Tears of sorrow, joy or relief with ungendered fragrances in a wide olfactory range. 2️⃣ The theme of tears also inspired American brand Régime des Fleurs with Tears, a powdery lilac/incense accord created by perfumer Mathieu Nardin from Mane. 3️⃣ Another American brand, Phlur made TikTok and Instagram cry with the story of the fragrance Missing Person, inspired by the scent of the missing or lost loved one. A woody musky floral fragrance that caused a buzz two years ago: 200 thousand people were on the waiting list to smell it! (👃: Constance Georges Picot from Cosmo International Fragrances). Crying, a source of inspiration for perfumes: who would ever have believed it? This month, we proudly kicked off our fifth consecutive year of the Credo for Change Annual Accelerator Program. Driven by our commitment to creating a more equitable beauty industry, we launched the virtual Credo for Change program in 2020. Over the past five years, we have supported more than 200 BIPOC-owned beauty brands, and in 2023, we welcomed our first live student cohort. The mission of Credo for Change is to inspire a new generation of thoughtful and diverse leaders who will continue to push the boundaries of the beauty industry. We believe that the future of clean, sustainable beauty will be shaped by today’s young innovators. This year, we celebrated a significant milestone by hosting our inaugural live student cohort in partnership with the Fashion Institute of Technology, the FIT Foundation, and the FIT Social Justice Center.
