Exciting news! Our General Manager, Rachel Murphy, has been selected to represent CCWD and the larger water industry on the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) Board of Directors. An esteemed national organization, AMWA brings together the largest publicly owned water utilities across the United States to engage on federal water policy issues, foster utility management for the future, and develop a strong water utility professional network and expertise. Rachel’s expertise in leadership, collaboration, and communication will be valued assets to advance the important work at AMWA.   

Our #MadeWithCCWD campaign engaged the community in thinking how all of our lives are enabled by reliable, high-quality water service. We partnered with local businesses and organizations to showcase how water supports their efforts. These valuable partnerships made the message tangible for customers and underscored the important role of water in nearly every aspect of daily life. The campaign raised awareness about the systems and infrastructure necessary to produce high-quality water and, importantly, the hardworking and skilled employees of Contra Costa Water District who work 24/7 to deliver for our customers.

The Contra Costa Water District Board of Directors and staff are extremely saddened to hear of Bette Boatmun’s passing. Bette was a remarkable leader and a true visionary when it came to water conservation, education and public service. Over her 46+ years on the CCWD Board of Directors, she was instrumental in advancing countless initiatives that benefited the communities she represented. Bette’s leadership extended beyond CCWD, she served as president of Association of California Water Agencies, represented special districts at the state level and was a fierce advocate for clean, safe, drinking water across California. Her tireless dedication and commitment to the public have shaped CCWD into the organization it is today and the Bette Boatmun Conservation Garden stands as a tribute to her dedication to the environment and the community. I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent with her serving on this Board. Her wisdom, vision, and friendship will be greatly missed. — Ernesto A.
