We at Concordia join the world in mourning the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a leader whose legacy transcends generations. As the 39th President of the United States, he championed diplomacy, international peace, and human rights—principles that align deeply with our mission to foster collaboration in addressing today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. We honor his enduring contributions and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those inspired by his extraordinary life.

Creating impact is a team sport! At Doha Forum this month, we enjoyed listening to former Concordia partner, Generation Amazing Foundation, on a panel titled "Sport as a Force for Sustainable Development in the MENA Region." In partnership with Qatar Fund for Development, Generation Amazing's Executive Director, Nasser Al-Khori, spoke about their mission to harness the power of football to transform less fortunate communities, spreading the message of inclusion and driving social change. Greetings from Riyadh!👋 We recently returned from a visit to COP16Riyadh where we partnered with The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) to discuss sustainable land management—specifically how partnerships can help advance these goals. We were lucky enough to be immersed in the surrounding culture as well, forging friendships and trading stories. Thank you to AGFUND, Dr. Nasser Alkahtani and H.E. Abdulaziz bin Talal Al-Saud (who is a Concordia Leadership Council Member) for this fascinating experience.

I was privileged to attend the 2024 Doha Forum as part of a Concordia delegation, building on a powerful partnership between our two organizations designed to expand the power of #convening. As a convener, I love attending other events. They often inspire or affirm, I connect with old friends, and I actually get to *watch* the programming as it unfold in real time. But this forum was a bit different. Speakers and attendees alike challenged my perceptions and forced me to sit with a different, and occasionally uncomfortable, set of truths — truths held by a growing number of global citizens. It was refreshing to hear my personal thoughts on certain political moments said out loud. It was alarming to hear alternate scenarios that challenge world order and threaten to escalate violence. It was fascinating to learn from regional leaders about their work at local levels and see collaboration in real time create opportunities to scale impact. Against the geopolitical backdrop of a volatile 48 hours, Doha Forum attendees received first hand insights from those closest to the issues. Newspaper headlines are lived by the attendees here, and one must never forget that. My first trip to #Qatar will leave a lasting and positive impression. I hope it is the beginning of deeper engagement with this critical region as well as this country, a true beacon of dynamism and innovation for the world. Thank you, Doha Forum, for this enlightening experience!

Doha Forum, a global platform for dialogue and collaborator with Concordia, has just completed their 2024 convening—and we are so grateful to have attended. At a time when so much is happening in the world and in the region, this convening offered incredible insight into a diverse group of issues and voices. Although two individual organizations, Concordia and Doha Forum have a shared purpose—fostering effective dialogue in pursuit of innovative solutions for the world’s biggest issues. We look forward to continue partnering with Doha Forum to expand the power of convening and collaboration. Special thanks to the Concordia delegation, including our advisors who joined us, as well as those who have been key contributors to this important relationship.
