About us
Community Health Association of Mountain/Plains States (CHAMPS) is a nonprofit membership association of community, migrant, and homeless health centers in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming (Region VIII). CHAMPS was founded in 1985 to unite Region VIII health centers in a mutual support network of community-based providers of primary care and related services for underserved communities in the mountain and plains states. This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under cooperative agreement number U58CS06861, “State and Regional Primary Care Associations,” total award of $569,941, 27% of the total PCA project is financed with nongovernmental sources. The HITEQ Center is hosting an upcoming free learning collaborative titled "Strategies for Increasing Health Center Cyber Resilience: Risk Assessment, Breach Defense, Mitigation and Response." The Rural Health Care Services Outreach Program is now open for applications! The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is making $13 million available for up to 50 awards. This community-based grant program aims to expand and improve healthcare services in rural areas while strengthening local resources and capacity. Today is the National Association of Community Health Centers' (NACHC) National Day of Action! As Congress enters its final days of session, it is crucial that funding for health centers remains a top priority. Both the mandatory Community Health Center Fund and annual discretionary funding for health centers are set to expire before the end of 2024. All health center staff and supporters are encouraged to take action today by calling or writing to their elected officials to urge Congress to prioritize health center funding before the December 31st deadline.
