Thanks to everyone who has contacted Congress to ask them to pass Community Health Center funding before it expires! While the situation is fluid right now, NACHC continues to ask Congress to come together on a bipartisan basis to support sustainable multi-year funding for CHCs so they can continue their record of success saving lives and taxpayer dollars. ☎️ Urgent need for action: Congress is making decisions on health center funding right now. Federal funding that allows millions of Americans to have access to Community Health Center services will run out by the end of the year. Congress just released a bill that would: ✅ Increase and extend health center funding by two years, and ✅ Continue telehealth access for health center patients. YOUR voice is needed as we push Congress to take up and pass this bill as soon as possible to ensure the sustainability of health centers and the 32.5 million patients you serve. 📞 Call (202) 224-3121 or use NACHC's action alert to be connected directly to your members of Congress: https://lnkd.in/gCFa6TAB #CHCpatients

Good news! Congress has announced a major funding package that secures funding for Community Health Centers (CHCs) over two years. The legislation also extends and increases funding for vital primary care workforce initiatives, including a two-year renewal for the National Health Service Corps and a five-year continuation of the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program. NACHC calls on Congress to quickly pass this bipartisan deal to provide long-term certainty for health centers and the 1 in 10 Americans they serve. 🩺 "I came here because this is where I see myself making the most difference. It feels like treating my grandmother or my mother,” says Dr. Joronia Chery, a first-year resident at a Community Health Center in Harlem. Dr. Chery is part of the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program, administered by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS. Congress is currently negotiating a year-end funding package that may extend the THCGME program, which has trained more than 2,000 physicians in health centers. As Noah Smith writes in a new article on "Community Health Forum," the program "aims to meet the pressing need for primary care doctors while reshaping how and where they are trained." For his story, Smith interviewed residents and physicians at the The Institute for Family Health about the THCGME program: "Teaching health centers like [the Institute for Family Health] stand in contrast to traditional hospital residencies. They immerse trainees in outpatient, community-based settings, prioritizing preventive, collaborative, and comprehensive care. Residents develop skills ranging from managing chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension to navigating the intricate social determinants of health, such as housing and food insecurity.
