Make an impact on hunger this Giving Tuesday. Every gift will be matched up to $200,000! With 1 in 4 San Diegans facing rising costs and food insecurity, the need for accessible, nutritious food continues to grow, and our mission is as urgent as ever. At Coastal Roots Farm, we’re not only feeding families in need, but also cultivating a brighter, more sustainable future for all. A gift this Giving Tuesday ensures we can continue to: -Fight hunger by providing healthy, fresh food to those in need, ensuring nobody is turned away for inability to pay. -Tackle climate change with regenerative farming practices that restore soil health. -Empower youth to become tomorrow’s environmental stewards. -Nurture Jewish life and foster a sense of community that welcomes people of all backgrounds. We’re proud of the impact we’re making—and as our reach grows, so does our need for community support. Just as each individual seed contributes to thriving garden, every small contribution fuels our mission. A $30 gift feeds a family facing food insecurity with fresh, nutrient-dense produce for a week. Together, these small actions create a big impact, nourishing our community one family, child, or harvest at a time. Thank you for planting seeds of change with us! San Diego is one of the most expensive cities in the United States. Here, 1 in 4 people face food insecurity. For many, fresh food is a luxury out of reach. At Coastal Roots Farm, we believe fresh food should be a right for all, not a privilege for those with means. That's why we grow and share food with anyone who's hungry - no questions asked. Last year, we provided over 45,000 people with access to fresh produce through our Pay-What-You-Can Farm Stand and free food deliveries. Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, and you can donate today. Together, we can nourish our neighbors and make healthy food accessible for all. https://lnkd.in/g-SXSm5k

Coastal Roots Farm's Director of Farm Production and Distribution Adam McCurdy reminds us, “We don’t need more chemicals. We don’t need to take away from the miracle of nature. What we need to do is we need to go back, with the science.” At Coastal Roots Farm, we practice regenerative agriculture to not only support a thriving ecosystem, but also feed nutrition-insecure community members in San Diego County. Even one hungry person is too many, and we're honored to grow in a way that cares for our planet and the people who live on it. Each year, we grow up to 80,000 pounds of food and feed around 45,000 people, donating the vast majority to those in need. Thank you, Spectrum News, for featuring Coastal Roots Farm alongside our friends at Salk Institute for Biological Studies doing innovative genetic research that has the power to change agriculture in a big way.

We’re sowing seeds of gratitude. This week, we offer deep gratitude to our Farmily – to the staff, volunteers, community partners, donors, and all those who make this place a thriving community. As many gather around the table, we recognize both the joy and gratitude of this day and the complex history it represents. Many of the foods we associate with Thanksgiving – corn, squash, beans, and more – have been cultivated and shared among Indigenous communities for generations. We are deeply honored to steward this land, care for the soil, grow organic, nutrient-dense foods, and share our harvest with those in need. We are committed to continue Nourishing Community and making the Farm a space of connection, learning, and abundance for all.

At Coastal Roots Farm, we believe every family should have access to fresh food, nature, and meaningful experiences, no matter their circumstances. Last year, we welcomed 12,000 young people to the Farm, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards through hands-on learning and outdoor exploration. Our Pay-What-You-Can Farm Stand and free food deliveries ensure fresh produce is accessible to all, and our programs are designed to connect young families to nature and core Jewish values like Arevut (mutual care). Together, we’re planting the seeds for a healthier, more connected future. Giving Tuesday is one week away. Help us keep these experiences accessible for everyone. Every gift makes a difference and is matched dollar-for-dollar through December 31. https://lnkd.in/gjBYC5Xj

Access to fresh food should be a right, not a privilege for those with means. Yet in San Diego, 1 in 4 still face food insecurity. At Coastal Roots Farm, we’re not only feeding our community - we’re cultivating a sustainable future. Each year we feed over 45,000 neighbors, donating the vast majority to those in need. We’re tackling climate challenges head-on with earth-friendly practices that nourish both people and planet. And by welcoming over 10,000 youth to the Farm each year, we’re cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards. Rooted in Jewish tradition, we honor the deep connection between Adam (human) and Adamah (land), fostering a vibrant Jewish community and inviting people of all backgrounds to join us in caring for our community and our planet. This holiday season, we’re raising $200,000 to continue this important work. Every gift received before December 31st – whether $5 or $500 – is being matched. Together, we can grow a future where everyone thrives. Donate today. https://lnkd.in/gjBYC5Xj

What a day! Our 12th Annual Sukkot Harvest Festival brought nearly 900 attendees together to celebrate the bounty of the Farm and the spirit of Sukkot, a Jewish holiday about gratitude, welcoming the stranger, and creating a sense of unity under one big tent—values deeply rooted in Jewish tradition and core to who we are as an organization. One guest shared, “I cried four times within the first 45 minutes then another two times—it’s what this world should be!" From farm tours to yoga and meditation, live music to the libation station, cooking, face painting, and more, we're grateful to everyone who joined us to connect, learn, and share in this meaningful celebration and tradition.🌿✨ Special gratitude to our festival sponsors San Diego Gas & Electric, EDCO, plus Biovauc Cidery, Camp Mountain Chai, Chabad At La Costa, Dr. Bronner's, Eden Village West, Friendship Circle of San Diego, Golden Coast Mead, GOURMET M CHOCOLATES, Hebrew Free Loan, Jimbo's, Keshet, Leichtag Foundation, Patagonia, ProduceGood, Pure Project, San Diego Botanic Garden, San Diego Jewish Academy, Shalom Baby, Sipwell Wine Co., Terra Hava, and VAGA at Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas for your support in making our largest event of the year possible!
