Many Australians don't realise that the country already generates 40% of its energy from renewables (and it spiked to 75% recently), and they don't know how quickly the nation has been moving and the policies implemented to support it. We released a new story alongside the launch of the Net Zero Company Benchmark assessment results last week. Whilst this is an important annual moment for the initiative, there's also been a wave of new signatories that we wish to highlight. Climate Action 100+ has taken on 90 new joiners since June 2023, with a regional breakdown as follows: Africa - 2, Asia - 10, Australasia - 12, Europe - 52, North America - 10, and South America - 4. Today Climate Action 100+ has released the latest round of company assessments against the Net Zero Company Benchmark. Whilst results show #decarbonisation is underway for many of the world’s biggest #emitters, most are still not meeting all expectations of the Benchmark in terms of delivering a comprehensive strategy. Yesterday Climate Action 100+ hosted a co-branded event with Principles for Responsible Investment for PRI in Person in Toronto. This event brought together investors and companies from all over the world to enable direct dialogue about how to work together to address climate barriers and identify solutions via stewardship initiatives. The plenary discussion featured case studies of strengthened corporate climate performance supported by constructive engagement with investors.
