  • Meet our featured teacher Erin! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 "I feel absolutely honored to be a part of ClassUp and everything it stands for! I have been teaching on the ClassUp platform since late December, 2023, and it is by far the most rewarding, fulfilling, and FUN pursuit I have experienced in my teaching career! I have been teaching for nearly ten years in different capacities, from elementary education to English as a Second Language, and even some graduate-level courses. ClassUp has provided the opportunity to work one-on-one with dedicated students who have the collaborative objective to achieve, and even exceed goals in the area of English and Language Arts. It is firmly believed that a one-on-one setting provides the opportunity to tailor classes to specifically meet the needs of each student individually. It is incredibly difficult to pinpoint just one story or moment to encompass all the joy teaching on the ClassUp platform has brought! I have had students send me pictures of their sculptures and artwork in the Chat, have had students share songs, poetry, and stories they have written for school or on their own time, and have had students share that their grades have improved since beginning classes together. One student in particular, however, has continuously amazed me with the progress he has made since our first class together. He began classes as a somewhat timid second grader who had fallen behind in his ELA class at school. His mother was, and continues to be very invested in his education, and set goals to improve spelling, grammar, and reading. He struggled to sound out even basic vocabulary words, and was unfamiliar with different parts of speech. Through developing a solid rapport with the student and trust with his mother, we have collaboratively devised fun strategies to encourage repetition and progress. He has not only developed confidence in our class work, but his grades continue to improve in school. He is now signed up for two-to-three classes per week, and continues to showcase improvement in each class! I am a strong believer in engaging in self-care strategies to assure optimal workplace performance. As teachers, we have to be sure to take care of ourselves so that we can provide the best possible classes to our students! No matter how my day has gone, I participate in distance running as a way to tune out, refocus, and just have some fun before resuming my responsibilities as a teacher. I often pair running with music as a way to further energize and maintain a positive mindset. Classic rock, particularly 1980’s hair metal, is a fun way to achieve self-care objectives while running. Moreover, I additionally feel quotes can be a powerful tool to encourage and motivate teachers. One that I regularly keep in mind and share with other teachers is as follows: Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.” - Joyce Meyer"

  • We know that a teacher's first trial class can be nerve wracking as you learn the ropes! Our mentors and tenured teachers have completed thousands of trial classes, and they have perfected the art of meeting students for the first time. The recipe for a successful trial class lies in preparation, student engagement, and specific parent feedback! As you get ready for your first trial class or as you apply to ClassUp and prepare your demo lesson - see how YOU can succeed as a new teacher in a trial class.
