  Sanjay Mishra selected as Fairfield’s Director of Public Works   Fairfield, California (Wednesday, October 9, 2024) - After an extensive nationwide search, the City of Fairfield has selected Sanjay Mishra as its new Director of Public Works. Mishra will oversee infrastructure delivery projects, sustainability efforts, development services, water, and streets operations. "I am excited about the opportunity to implement innovative solutions that address both current and future infrastructure needs. This role will allow me to oversee key capital projects, foster collaboration between departments and stakeholders, and strengthen partnerships with Travis Air Force Base," stated Mishra. " It offers a unique chance to drive meaningful change and contribute to the city's growth, while upholding the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability." Mishra is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Traffic Engineer with extensive experience in civil engineering, construction management, and large transportation project delivery. In his thirty-year career, he has successfully led infrastructure projects across the U.S., Singapore, and India. Mishra's current role as Director of Public Works and City Engineer for the City of Pinole has brought essential infrastructure projects to fruition. "Sanjay brings an important combination of technical expertise, leadership, and vision to Team Fairfield," City Manager David Gassaway said. "I am confident in his ability to deliver on our vast array of projects and Capital Improvement Plans which affect our residents daily.”

The City of Fairfield Community Development Department serves to protect, enhance, and expand the community's physical, environmental, economic, and historic assets, and to improve and expand its supply of affordable housing. The Planning Division executes this mission by administering land use regulations, development permitting, environmental review, long range planning, implementing the City's General Plan, and regional planning activities. The Planning Division is currently accepting applications to fill one planner position. Based on the successful candidates' qualifications and experience, the positions may be filled at either the Junior or Assistant level.
