For 113 years, this collaboration has transformed lives, including that of Catholic Charities supporter Lidia Bastianich. Lidia arrived in the United States as an 11-year-old refugee during WWII. With the help of Catholic Charities, her family found a home, hope, and opportunities to thrive. Today, Lidia is a celebrated chef, author, and television host who credits Catholic Charities for playing a vital role in her journey. Today, Catholic Charities NY employees celebrated the Advent season by joining all employees at the Archdiocese of NY in a mass celebrated by His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan. Cardinal Dolan spoke about St. Joseph, the often "forgotten father," and silent strength of the Holy Family. St. Joseph humbly labored with quiet dedication, demonstrating that faith and hard work are often conducted through daily, unseen efforts. He went on to liken the employees of the Archdiocese of NY to St. Joseph, sending a message of gratitude to all employees who humbly and diligently carry out their duties each day. As we draw nearer to the holidays, we send a big thank you to all of our staff at Catholic Charities NY - no matter the size of the task, we appreciate everything you do to help us fulfill our ongoing mission of serving others in need.

This month, we celebrate Mya and Juliana, two dedicated volunteers at Queen’s Daughters Daycare, an agency of Catholic Charities in Westchester County! Both share a deep love for supporting children’s growth, learning patience, and creating a positive impact every day.

Today, we began the third week of Advent, a time to focus on joy. There are many reasons to be joyful, especially as we celebrate the joy that comes through Jesus' arrival and the salvation He has gifted us. Philippians 4:4-5 reminds us: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."
