Meet Byron! He’s been an engineer at Campminder for 20 years (yes, two whole decades!). When he first joined, he was interviewed in our CEO Dan’s apartment—talk about starting small! In this video, Byron talks about what keeps him motivated after all this time: seeing how excited camp leaders get when new updates roll out. Here’s a fun throwback: before we had a CMS team, engineers like Byron used to work directly with camps. It was such a unique and special part of Campminder’s early days. Those direct conversations with camp leaders gave our engineers an up-close look at what camps truly needed. The feedback they got helped shape the software into what it is today and propelled us forward. #TeamCampminder #EngineerSpotlight #TechEngineer #CampCommunity #Campminder

  • Summer camp parent referrals are great marketing tools and are more easily acquired by building a supportive community at camp. When parents feel informed and inspired to share their positive experiences, they become natural advocates for your programs. When you guide parents on effectively communicating the benefits of camp, you can attract new families, strengthen your camp community, and ensure continued success. I Help Businesses Become an Employer of Choice

Have you ever heard of “Outdoor Benefits” at a job? I haven’t, and I never really expected it…So, while checking my emails this week, I was intrigued by a recent newsletter from Outside Magazine that highlights the U.S.'s top employers in a way I haven’t seen before. Unlike the typical rankings, this one focused on companies that bring the great outdoors to their employees' lives. Here are 8 of them that caught my attention: - Wilderness Travel (Berkeley, California): Wilderness Travel trip (with a +one), a $4,000 annual travel stipend, 10 Fridays off annually, and fun team outings like kayaking, escape rooms, an Alcatraz tour, or curling. - Campminder (Boulder, Colorado): On-site retreats with yoga, cooking classes, escape rooms, and hikes with goats!   - Alianza, Inc. (Grove, Utah): a $500 annual fitness reimbursement, corporate passes for skiing, rock climbing, and golf, a fleet of e-bikes for employee use, a fully stocked kitchen with vegan and paleo options, and 100% employer-paid healthcare premiums.   -  Landmark Consultants Inc. (Steamboat Springs, CO) — In addition to fully covering health insurance costs for employees & their dependents, they offer a physical health benefit equivalent to a full Ikon ski pass., an annual summer camping trip, and a company ski day.   - Global Glimpse (Oakland, California): An annual international team retreat, bi-weekly half-day “Wellness Fridays”, a “Workiversary” Program that includes flight vouchers, swag, and sabbaticals, plus a week off for winter holiday and another one for the summer!   - BSW Wealth Partners, a Public Benefit Corporation (in Boulder, CO): early Fridays for adventures, ski trips, and a dinner stipend with a babysitter for work anniversaries.   - Ergodyne (St. Paul, Minnesota): Half-day Fridays in the summer, team 5K runs, a fully equipped gym with a Peloton machine, and weekly workout classes.   - Eagle County Paramedic Services (Edwards, Colorado): a $1,200 annual stipend for ski passes or other recreational pursuits, a housing assistance program with 10% annual loan forgiveness, and employee gifts like Osprey backpacks and Melanzana hoodies.   I believe that this isn’t about a flashy benefits package...I think these companies genuinely want empowering their employees to live fulfilling lives beyond work. And I think that’s the kind of future-forward thinking we need to see more of! #EmployerBrand #WorkLifeBalance #BestPlacesToWork #outdoors #benefits

Episode 125 drops today with the lifelong Summer camper and CEO Dan Konigsberg If you went to Summer Camp or your child goes to Summer Camp or you want to hear two die hard campers reminisce and get all choked up- this episode is not to be missed. 🥹🥹 3 things you will learn from this episode: 1️⃣ Why integrating what you know and love into your career path serves you so well 2️⃣ How technology changed the way the Camping industry functions today 3️⃣ Why creating a supportive and joy filled culture is the only way to lead I have the distinct pleasure of hosting a true innovator in the summer camp industry, Dan Konigsberg. As the founder and CEO of Campminder, Dan has revolutionized the way Summer Camps operate, bringing technology and efficiency to an industry steeped in tradition. Dan's journey is a testament to the power of passion and entrepreneurship. Growing up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, he spent his summers at Camp Takajo in Maine, where he developed a deep love for the camp experience. Little did he know that his hobby of creating a Dave Matthews Band Tour Archive website in high school would lay the foundation for his future career. In 2001, while still a college student at Emory University, Dan's ingenuity led him to create a system to streamline Camp Takajo's staff hiring process. This project evolved into CampMinder, a company that now serves nearly 1,000 of the world's best summer camps. Dan's unique blend of computer science knowledge and economic understanding has been instrumental in CampMinder's success. His leadership style, deeply rooted in Takajo's Arch Ideals, emphasizes people-first principles and creating a supportive work environment. Beyond his professional achievements, Dan is a devoted family man, living in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and 9-year-old twins. He's an avid guitarist, songwriter, and ski enthusiast. #podcast #camp #CEO #leadership #10for2 Heartbeat for Hire
