Caltrans and California take bicycling seriously. And we’re getting noticed for it. According to the latest rankings by the League of American Bicyclists, California is now the fourth most “bike-friendly” state in the U.S., based on several criteria. These include a decrease in car vs. bike crashes, the use of protected bike lanes and other bike-safety infrastructure and sponsoring public bike safety conferences throughout the state.
