As 2024 wraps up, we proudly celebrate the positive impact generated by our team during this pivotal year. We launched Small Business Corps, a new AmeriCorps-style program that has empowered 38 local businesses in the D.C. area through over 9,000 hours of business student consulting services. We have strengthened the financial sustainability of local nonprofits through our New Strategies Rising program, and accelerated the growth of Black-owned small businesses in partnership with SheaMoisture. And we kicked off the year by partnering with the American Academy of Physician Associates to convene HealthFORCE, a new coalition of healthcare providers, businesses, health systems, and nonprofits committed to diversifying and expanding the U.S. healthcare workforce to ensure access to safe, quality healthcare for all. Looking ahead to 2025, we remain committed to driving impact, advancing equity, and creating opportunities that empower communities at both local and global levels. Happy holidays, and thank you for being part of our journey. #BusinessForImpact #NonprofitLeaders

Georgetown McDonough has launched the Small Business Corps in partnership with Bank of America, PNC, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and with support from a generous alumnus, to aid small businesses in urban and rural under-resourced communities in the DMV region through tailored, student-led consulting services. Facilitated by Georgetown’s Business for Impact, SBC students are matched with select small businesses to address complex problems facing their organization and help them achieve long-term stability and success in the local economy. Hank Cardello, executive director of the Leadership Solutions for Health and Prosperity program at Business for Impact, just authored a new white paper on ultra-processed foods. The analysis found that treating all ultra-processed food products the same way is not an effective policy strategy. “It is crucial for policymakers and public health officials to recognize the unique nutritional and cultural aspects of ultra-processed foods and make educated decisions on how to best guide consumer purchasing behavior,” Cardello said. “A one-size-fits all approach to ultra-processed and indulgent food products is ineffective.” Learn more about the white paper here: https://bit.ly/3ZvttYb
