Through our multi-city HUB program, Black Girl Environmentalist cultivates location specific opportunities for our community to unite around environmental justice and co-create the regenerative future that we require Our HUBs are located in: NYC, LA, DC, Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, Knoxville, Philadelphia, the Bay Area (SF/Oakland), Columbus, and Atlanta. Our 2024 Impact Report is OUT!!!!! Wow, what a YEAR! This impact report reflects our fiscal year, August 2023 - August 2024, and recounts the incredible strides our team has made. United by a shared vision to cultivate ecosystems of care for early career Black women and gender expansive individuals, our entirely Black women-led, GenZ team has successfully led programming that empowers the next generation of Black women climate leaders. These 56 pages will give you a peak into the world of Black Girl Environmentalist! We are so proud to share this with the world. This program focuses on increasing opportunities for emerging leaders of color to enter the environmental sectors with adequate funding, mentorship, and community. Fellows will be placed at partner organizations in the climate sector, including Trane Technologies, the World Wildlife Fund, Stanley 1913, the National Parks Conservation Association, and more. Fellows receive at least $18/hour, a $5,000 living stipend, weekly professional development, a mentor, an end-of-summer retreat, and a lifelong community! AHH! Black Girl Environmentalist’s Hazel M. Johnson Fellowship application is LIVE! Named after the Mother of Environmental Justice, this program focuses on increasing opportunities for emerging leaders of color to learn about, engage with, and enter the environmental and climate sectors with adequate funding, mentorship, and community building. It is the ONLY climate internship pipeline program created FOR and BY GenZ in the country!! The Boston HUB members volunteered with the Prison Book Program last month. Attendees learned about environmental justice issues in prisons and help increase incarcerated people’s access to free and high-quality literature all across the country, by working with the Prison Book Program.
