It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gary Johnson who served as President of Bethany House Publishers from 1960 to 2008, and who left behind an incredible legacy. During his nearly five decades of leadership, Gary, alongside his wife Carol, championed groundbreaking works such as Janette Oke’s “Love Comes Softly” and Beverly Lewis’ “The Shunning,” transforming the landscape of Christian fiction. Their contributions also extended to impactful nonfiction titles such as Leonard Ravenhill’s “Why Revival Tarries” and Larry Christenson’s “The Christian Family.” Gary’s legacy lives on through countless lives impacted by these stories and the ongoing work of Bethany House Publishers.
