    It’s not every day you get interviewed by the governor! Washington Governor Jay Inslee turned into a news reporter while visiting the Avangrid National Control Center in Vancouver, Washington and interviewed Renewables Chief Operating Officer Jorge Pedron. We are proud to have welcomed Governor Inslee at the Avangrid NCC today. The governor has helped lead the #cleanenergy transition for more than a decade and we are happy to show him how we’re leading renewable energy development in his state and around the country. The NCC serves as the nerve-center of our #renewableenergy operations, remotely operating our wind and solar facilities spread across nearly half the country.

We're so thankful to our employees who helped bring it to fruition, and to the members of the local community who helped us celebrate.     Avangrid joined us recently at the Preble Street Food Security Hub (FSH) for a volunteer shift. In addition to having great volunteers, Avangrid is a financial supporter of Preble Street's anti-hunger work. They recently awarded Preble Street a $50,000 grant to support the kitchen upgrades at the FSH as part of its ongoing expansion and renovations. A 5,000 square-foot commercial kitchen, the FSH's new kitchen will increase the efficiency and safety of meal production, bolster our efforts to connect with local farmers, and vastly improve Preble Street’s capacity to store and handle food donations. These trucks use a diesel engine to drive but need only electricity to operate the bucket lift. So our Corporate Communications team was thrilled recently to be able lend some hands to Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, a local treasure and valued customer of United Illuminating. They helped beautify the park by raking leaves and supporting the zoo’s clean-up efforts. A big thank you to the team for their dedication to giving back and making a positive impact in the community.
