Experienced Leader in Multidisciplinary Project Management | Driving Innovation and Solving Complex Challenges

Last weekend, I celebrated a significant milestone: graduating from the Executive MBA program at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business. Completing this program was an incredible journey of growth, learning, and community. As I reflect, I feel compelled to share an incident that left a profound impact on me and shaped my perspective in ways I never anticipated. In August, I was studying in a secure Graduate School building, seated in a private study booth, well-dressed as usual, with my laptop, backpack, Georgia Tech notepad, and ID visible. I had removed my shoes and placed my feet on it for comfort. Despite these clear markers of a student studying, a staff member called to report a 'suspicious older Black man' in the building. I was shocked when three police officers surrounded the booth where I was seated, claiming I matched the description from a call. The faculty’s report suggested that the caller's actions were influenced by concerns about occasional unauthorized access, sometimes involving unsheltered individuals seeking refuge in campus buildings. This raised a deeply unsettling question: What about my appearance resonated with homelessness? How could someone like me—a professional, a student, a father, a husband, and, yes, a well-dressed and confident man—be mistaken for a homeless person? This incident bruised my outward confidence but also opened my eyes to a crisis I had not fully grasped before: the harsh realities of homelessness in Atlanta. I began seeking answers about myself and the lives of those who are truly homeless. I started paying closer attention to the men, women, and children finding shelter in street corners, under bridges, and abandoned garages. I learned that homelessness is not defined by torn clothing or disheveled appearances. Many well-dressed individuals lack a place to call home, relying on temp shelters or sleeping in their cars. According to recent data, a disproportionate number of those affected are Black residents, struggling under housing costs, economic instability and systemic challenges. Mental health and substance abuse further complicate many unhoused individuals. Yet, there is hope. Organizations like Atlanta Mission are working to combat homelessness by providing shelter, rehabilitation, and pathways to stability. As Mayor Andre Dickens said, addressing homelessness is a moral obligation. This inspired me to act. To mark my graduation, I am partnering with Atlanta Mission to support those experiencing homelessness. My EMBA journey has taught me to lead with authenticity, empathy, and purpose. Leadership is not just about personal achievements but also about using our platforms to uplift others. As I enter this new chapter, I am committed to making an impact not just in boardrooms but in the lives of those in need. Please, join me in supporting the homeless community, and together, we can drive meaningful change! Donate: https://lnkd.in/eRvqHxxA

  • During this busy time of year, our community still finds time to come out and make a difference. A big shout out to Kayla Wilson and her team from Autodesk for coming out and volunteering for two different events with us. Not only did they give their time to us, but they donated over 90 backpacks to a local school. We love it when our community partners give their time and resources to us. We love it more when they can also give to those in need across our community. Thank you again for setting an example of service, leadership, and community care. #hopeliveshere #Autodesk #communityimpact

I am so thankful for the opportunities Autodesk has given me this year! I was able to organize a backpack donation to a local school where we donated 90+ backpacks filled with supplies and also coordinated 2 different volunteer events where Autodesk employees were able to donate their time with Atlanta Mission by sorting clothing donations and serving lunch!
