In addition to clearing the Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act yesterday, Congress also approved several ATA priorities that will: ✅ Implement reforms to improve military base access. This will safeguard the reforms ATA secured last year to standardize base access for truck drivers delivering military freight or relocating servicemembers. 🚚 Increase security for sensitive military freight. This will require DoD to brief Congress before moving forward with its shortsighted proposal to allow non-certified carriers to transport sensitive military freight in certain situations. 🔎 Improve transparency of the Global Household Goods Contract. This will increase congressional oversight of the seriously flawed changes to the GHC program. These measures were championed by ATA’s Government Freight Conference and Moving & Storage Conference and will make it easier for motor carriers to serve their military customers.

Congress is finally putting an end to redundant background checks and duplicative fees! This ATA-backed bill, which passed today, will reform the outdated, inefficient processes that truck drivers undergo to obtain credentials they need to do their essential jobs. In its place will be a streamlined system that respects drivers’ time and money. Thank you to the Members of Congress who sponsored the bill and moved it across the finish line. https://lnkd.in/ebsGAGVR

Last night's Wreaths Across America Appreciation Dinner was a reminder that freedom is never free, and that we must all live with purpose. ATA Chairman Dennis Dellinger (Cargo Transporters) and professional drivers Ralph Garcia (ABF Freight) and Doug May (XPO) were honored to join the company of gold star families, American heroes, and industry partners. This morning, as the ATA family lays wreaths at the headstones of our nation's fallen in Arlington National Cemetery, we take to the heart the Wreaths Across America mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach the solemn value of sacrifice. #WreathsAcrossAmerica #WAA
