Earlier this week, members of the AMFP Greater NY Chapter's Long Island Committee had the privilege of participating in a volunteer gift wrapping event to bring presents to the children patients at Northwell Health's South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, Long Island, NY. We were so pleased to partner with Northwell Health Foundation and help in this way. South Oaks Hospital provides exceptional, individualized care for those suffering from acute psychiatric illness or addiction, a behavioral health hospital for children and adults. There are approximately 30-60 kids in residence over the holidays and all receive gifts, an estimated 180 gifts were wrapped. Our volunteers were also moved to additional bring gifts and wrapping supplies. They were also kind enough to bring us on a tour of the facility. Thank you for this opportunity and coordination, and graciously providing lunch and hot chocolate!
