The last Board of Governors meeting for the year is in the books! Every month our ASHRAE Houston Chapter officers and volunteers get together to discuss upcoming events and chapter business. This month we were lucky enough to meet in person at the Miracle at Winnie's pop-up, which added some appreciated holiday cheer to our meeting. This may be a low quality picture, but it's a high quality group of chapter members that keep our organization running! #myashrae If you're interested in getting involved with the Houston Chapter, please reach out to Nick Janssen to get plugged in for our 2025-2026 events!

This past Wednesday, your Women in ASHRAE Committee held our first event of the 2024-2025 season, a panel discussion titled “The Female Perspective: Women in STEM Leadership.” We had a great turnout and are already looking forward to the next one! We would like to extend our gratitude to our panelists, Lisa A. Osborne, PE, LEED-AP , Linda D. Lee DrPH, MBA, CIC, Dr. Katja Auer, EdD, MA, MBA, EDO, and Christy Troutman, for sharing their unique experiences and advice on how to navigate traditionally male-dominated industries. Their stories of personal adversities and professional triumphs were both engaging and inspiring. A special thank you to our generous sponsors, Page, S&S HVAC Equipment and ASHRAE Houston Chapter, for helping to keep our event free to our attendees! We also thank our moderator, Rachel Haines, for maintaining the momentum and guiding the conversations. #myashrae WiA Committee: Christy Troutman, Shelby Springs, MBA, Dr. Katja Auer, EdD, MA, MBA, EDO and Heather O’Kane

Last week was truly inspiring as I attended the 2024 Inaugural Women in ASHRAE Leadership Symposium. It was an invaluable milestone in my career, filled with empowering stories and insights from women in the HVAC industry. From professionals advocating for women's pursuit in STEM to industry leaders sharing wisdom on work-life balance and leadership skills, the event was a testament to female empowerment and leadership. I extend my deepest gratitude to the ASHRAE Houston Chapter and the ASHRAE Illinois Chapter for their support in making this experience possible. In addition, I would like to extend my appreciation to the WiALS EmpowHERment Award Committee, and YES Sub Committee for recognizing me as a Young Engineering Student EmpowHERment Award Finalist. Being part of such a transformative and evolutionary competition was an honor, made possible by the remarkable women involved. A special thank you to Filza Walters, MBA, FESD, FASHRAE, Brianna Barrow, and Madelyn Dudley Goerig for being such inspirations to students in the industry! #WomenLeadership #ASHRAE #Empowerment #STEM #HVAC #WomenInSTEM
