  • What’s driving the rise in Echinococcus detection? Are these findings due to a recent spread of Echinococcus, or are we simply benefiting from better diagnostics? It’s impossible to say for certain, but one thing is clear: Vigilance is key. Switching from traditional fecal screenings (O&P) to KeyScreen™ GI Parasites PCR is a game changer. This advanced molecular test detects not just Echinococcus but also raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris procyonis) and other emerging zoonotic threats. As diagnostics evolve, so can our awareness, protecting both pets and the people who love them. ➡️ Tap the link to read the latest publications. https://hubs.li/Q030mKGG0

  • Despite its importance, Echinococcus has been overlooked in veterinary care for too long. Why? Invisible proglottids: Unlike flea tapeworm, Echinococcus proglottids are nearly impossible to see with the naked eye. Ineffective microscopy (O&P): Eggs are tiny (<40 microns), inconsistently shed, and visually indistinguishable from Taenia species. Antigen tests don’t measure up: Available tests only detect flea tapeworm, leaving Echinococcus and others undetected. A new peer-reviewed study highlights the unexpected presence of Echinococcus spp. in routine fecal samples from domestic dogs across a wide US geographic range. While these tapeworms rarely cause illness in pets, the threat to humans is significant. ➡️ Tap the link to read the latest publications: https://hubs.li/Q02_DK6d0
