Yesterday, we closed a substantial debt refi loan for a restaurant group. With their new U.S. Small Business Administration 504 loan, they will experience significant savings over their previous floating rate loans. Just six weeks ago, the SBA introduced a few tweaks to the 504 Debt Refinance Program - making it easier for businesses to use. Changes include: * More debt now qualifies for refinancing * Borrowers have more flexibility to determine if refinancing is right for them * Higher loan to value allowed * No cap on 'cash out' when refinancing without an expansion * More uses allowed for cash taken out This is great news for businesses looking to refinance real estate or equipment loans - whether as part of an expansion or not. Support for entrepreneurs! The International Institute of Minnesota is hosting an Entrepreneurship Class this winter. In this 8-week interactive class participants will learn the basics of entrepreneurship. Alongside a cohort of New American peers, participants will develop business plans and receive support from knowledgeable teachers, financial coaches and business experts. Participants will learn what is needed to be successful and how to decide if being their own boss is right for them. The University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business's Community Entrepreneurship Program is a 10-month, hands-on program for any community member facing economic hardship who has a dream of starting and growing a business, including those who have already started a venture but need help to grow.
