AGS recently published its updated position statement on making medical treatment decisions for unrepresented older adults in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS). This position statement, developed by the AGS Ethics Committee, provides an update to the 2017 statement and offers new guidance on care and decision-making for unrepresented older adults. Making medical decisions on behalf of unrepresented older adults is exceptionally challenging and, given demographic trends, is likely to become increasingly common in the years ahead.
