We transform the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance.
About us
The All Stars Project is changing the national dialogue about how to meaningfully impact the lives of people growing up and living in poverty, and the role that "outside-of-school" plays in preparing inner-city youth for success in their lives. At All Stars, inner-city youth participate in hip-hop talent shows, leadership training in partnership with the business community, an internationally award-winning police-community relations program, and more. We have transformed our unique, community-based and grassroots programs, founded in NYC in 1981, into a growing movement reaching 20,000 inner-city youth and families each year in 6 cities. We have become one of the country's leading Afterschool Development organizations, creating a new national model that uses performance as our approach to helping kids and their families grow on and off the stage, and bridge-building through volunteer and direct partnership initiatives between our generous supporters, their families, and the youth of All Stars. We are so thrilled that Rachel Povey Altmann gives us our final development tip for 2024. I Can Perform, Visualize Opportunity, And Ignite Growth. (Improvisation, Confidence, Personal Responsibility, Vocational Competence, Open Worldview, Appreciation, Interpersonal Competence, Giving) "Living a developmental life is a lifetime practice, and it takes courage." 💪 When you're feeling like you've run out of courage, try this: ✨ Give what you have, even if it’s your vulnerability. ✨ Take personal responsibility and ask for help. ✨ Receive that help with gratitude, then try, make mistakes, and improvise. Development isn’t about being perfect—it’s about growing, exploring, and connecting all the dimensions into your life. 📢 As always. we want to hear from YOU! Share your experiences on Padlet: https://lnkd.in/eMYH3CGZ. Let us know how practicing the Development Tips felt and what you discovered. Now, go be courageous. 💥 #Development #Courage #GrowthMindset #ExplorePossibility #8Dimensions #TakeAction #AfterschoolDevelopmentWorks #AllStarsProject

We are in the Windy City with Dwayne Dixon Jr., sharing this weeks Development Tips on: Improvisation! “I’m willing to make a mistake to find solutions”. Every day, we plan how things should go. But what happens when the unexpected throws us off? Sometimes it can feel like hitting a wall—but it doesn't have to. Next time when things don’t go as planned—try something new. Instead of feeling frustrated, think creatively about how to make the situation better. It’s a simple shift and will open doors to unexpected opportunities and growth. So, what will you improvise today? When you do, let us know how it felt on padlet: https://lnkd.in/eMYH3CGZ And guess what, this not our last Development Tip. Check in next week for our final tip. #Improvisation #AllStarsProject #GrowthMindset #CreativeThinking #Adaptability #Chicago #donutme 🥗🍩

Eleven years ago, Chris Street, Hunter Hunt, and I talked about the power of building partnerships in Dallas to support the growth of our youth. We still hold to that philosophy today and are proud to announce a new and impactful partnership to relaunch Dallas Works! #YouthDevelopment #Workforcedevelopment #Workforcesolutions #DallasWorks
The All Stars Project, Inc. is proud to partner with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson to create a national model for youth workforce development through the Dallas Works Summer Internship Program! Special thanks to Alheli Garza in Mayor Johnson’s office for helping bring his vision to reality here. (Our joint press release link https://bit.ly/4fTlFo0). Over the last seven months, I have had the privilege of working closely with Lynn McBee, the City of Dallas' Workforce Czar, to bring this powerful partnership to life. Lynn's collaborative spirit, coupled with her tireless advocacy, has been instrumental in uniting the All Stars Project and the Dallas Works Summer Internship Program in a shared mission to uplift our city's youth. We have been inspired by other examples of excellence including YouthForce NOLA (Cate Swinburn, Sarah Bell), National Academy Foundation in Miami (Lisa Dughi) and the work Dr. Lupe Diaz and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools CTE are doing to uplift young people in partnership with the private sector. And we couldn’t have done it without leadership from Antoine Joyce-Roach Natalie Sandifer and their campaign for effective internships which we launched at the Dallas Regional Chamber last spring. Thank you to Dale Petroskey for having us present. In the next 6 months, we will be engaging over 1,000 young people from underserved communities in growth pathways towards careers in local corporations and nonprofits. Our team will bring our expertise in performance-based programming to enhance the impact of the Dallas Works initiative and give these young people the opportunities they need to succeed. And happy to report that an incredible new leader has joined our team. Yetunde Zannou, PhD, PMP will serve as the new Managing Director of Dallas Works and she brings invaluable experience from her time at SMU Simmons School of Education & Human Development and reDesign. If you are a business leader in the Dallas area, I hope you will join the Dallas Works partnership and providing internships, mentorship, and support to these talented young people. Visit www.dallassummerjobs.org for more information. I also want to ask All Stars partners in other cities, to direct their local Dallas office leaders to join this critical effort. Together, we can shape a stronger workforce and create opportunity for all Dallas’s youth. #DallasWorks #AllStarsProject #YouthDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #Partnership #Internships #Mentorship #InvestInTheFuture Shadae McDaniel Natalie Sandifer Kim Kesler Hunter Hunt Dr. Kathaleen Acosta Miguel Alvarado Taylor Bowen Ed Christmas Shelia E.
