About us

The ISC2 Alamo Chapter was created to provide peer networking for ISC2 credentialed professionals as well as non-credentialed professionals and to promote professional development opportunities for members and other information security specialists within the local communities to advance the field of information security. In November 2011 (ISC)² granted a chapter charter petition for a chapter in San Antonio, Texas. After much work on May 14, 2012 (ISC)2 approved the official charter for the Baltimore Chapter (Chapter #28).

  • It's a wrap - the December Alamo ISC2 Chapter Membership meeting with 36 online attendees and 9 or 10 in person at Tech Port, San Antonio just concluded. The Chapter Leadership (President Victor L. Malloy, C.) welcomed some new attendees as well as covered basic chapter business like total membership (211 (including 11 Students)), the Chapter's financials (which are positive), and some recent Chapter happenings (Jingle Mingle event at Scuzzi's). A huge thank you to our sponsors who've made all of our events possible for 2024 - THANK YOU! We also talked about the Board Membership Nominations / Voting for 2025 - if you're a member of Chapter Member, we need you to vote! We're 13 votes short of a quorum, please do your part for your Chapter. Lastly, we were lucky to have W. Garrett Myler talk to the Chapter about Evil Portal Attacks and gave some incredible examples of why connecting to unknown networks is bad...and why cyber safe mitigation activities like multi-factor authentication are highly encouraged and should be implemented. The follow-on conversation about password security and complexity was very informative and eye opening! Thank you W. Garrett Myler!

  • Colleagues, almost a month ago I announced approval for my PhD Research Survey. My goal is a minimum of 100 reponses; however as of today I'm only at 30%. If you've responded, many thanks! If you're a Cyber / IT Leader or hold a positiop w/in the C-Suite of your organization, I'm respectfully requesting your support with my survey - which is in the first comment below. Additionally, I'd be grateful if you'd share the research survey with those in your network. NOTE: my understanding is that if the the link is pasted w/in this post, the post will not have the reach I'm hoping for. Thanks, Dave

  • ISC2 Community, many of you know I'm actively engaged in Cyber Leadership Doctoral Program. My efforts are focused on the relationship among (and between) cyber / IT leaders and the impact that formal education and / or certifications and experience have on the leaders' desire or efforts to utilize artificial intelligence capabilities in enterprise cybersecurity systems. Recently, my Doctoral Institutional Review Board submission was approved, and I'm moving to the next phase and humbly request your engagement. If you're a Cyber or IT Leader, I'd be humbled if you'd take 12-15 minutes to complete this voluntary survey which will be instrumental in my research and completing this dynamic study. https://lnkd.in/g_jg73TQ Additionally, if you're interested in engaging in this topic one-on-one, I have approval to conduct on-one-discussions as well…please contact me and I’ll set up a time for a phone call or virtual discussion. I send my appreciation in advance for your support in this endeavor.
