📔A new AFRSO - Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office-led effort is working to standardize data formats for aircraft across the United States Air Force fleet. In development with collaboration from industry partners large and small, the SAE AS7140 CODEX - Common Open Data Exchange (CODEX) standard will consist of three data aircraft data file formats and a universal decoder API by the end of 2025. Why is this important? A common data standard will provide for a more rapid operationalization, sharing and collaboration related to aircraft data from health and usage monitoring systems on current and legacy aircraft. This information will benefit the maintenance and test communities, among other aircraft mission sets. Details: https://lnkd.in/gZpk5C4k #HUMS #AVgeek #DATA #SAE #standard #API

A new Air Force Research Laboratory facility is set to develop technical solutions to meet the needs of our Air and Space Force systems for the future! Today's end-of-year post highlights a recent event - the ribbon cutting for the new FORTRESS, or Radiation Tolerance Research on Electronics for Space and Strategic Systems building, at Kirtland AFB. FORTESS provides a space to create new technology for current and new space vehicles. FORTRESS teams will be creating new electronic components that can not only be used in space applications but can transition to other allies and space craft, both in the military and commercial space. 📰https://lnkd.in/gT8k_NYB (Photo by Paul Robinson) #AFMC2024 #space

Today's AFMC end-of-year post looks at a big event championed by our Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center - the stand-up of the merged ICBM Systems Directorate. Back in August, the Sentinel Systems Directorate and the Minuteman III Systems Directorate merged to become the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate. The new organization is responsible for providing the most responsive nuclear deterrence capability and sustainment for Air Force Global Strike Command through the LGM-30G Minuteman III and LGM-35A Sentinel. The change is part of a larger effort to streamline processes across the nuclear enterprise as the center sustains legacy nuclear deterrent platforms while modernizing for the future. The new directorate has nearly 1,000 personnel located at Hill AFB and locations across the U.S. and is responsible for executing $6 Billion for the land-based portion of the nuclear triad. 📰 https://lnkd.in/gz5QRsMZ (U.S. Air Force photo by R. Today's end-of-year post looks back at a big international F-35 aircraft training event held at Volk Field this past September. Experienced aircraft recovery personnel from around the world, including U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marines, and personnel from five F-35 foreign partner countries converged on Volk Field for an advanced Crash Damaged or Disabled Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) Team Chief Course. The training event reinforced the importance of joint efforts and cooperation during real world mishaps and recovery events. The CDDAR training used five different salvage aircraft – C-130s, an F-16A, an A-6, and a CH-53 helicopter – to practice established recovery methods and incorporated unique procedures specific to damaged F-35s. Organized by the F-35 Joint Program Office, the training aimed to share techniques and methodologies, and build international relationships during the advanced CDDAR training exercise for the F-35 global enterprise. 📰 https://lnkd.in/gQjppZec (U.S. Air Force photos by Todd Cromar, Hill Air Force Base) #AFMC2024

Today's AFMC end-of-year post showcases a big event for our Test Pilot School -- the graduation of the first class from the first year-long, fully integrated flight and space test course. Students in the integrated Flight and Space Test Course complete 600 contact hours, including 80 flight events and more than 20 space events, reports and tests, as well as a comprehensive written and oral exam. The Flight Test Course is an accredited Master’s program, with the Space Test Course to follow suit in 2025/2026. The 32 graduates will go on to serve across the Air Force Test Center and at Space Training and Readiness Command test units. What a big milestone! 📰https://lnkd.in/g4Tz2hkN #AFMC2024
