This holiday season, we're proud to have supported Middletown Recreation's Annual Bernie O'Rourke & Detroit Hunter Memorial Toy Drive for Families in Need. Our CT office came together to donate toys that will bring smiles to children ages 0-12 who might otherwise go without during the holidays.   Seeing our employees carefully loading gifts into the car, we were reminded of the true spirit of the season - compassion, generosity, and making a difference in our local community. The Fairfield Bridge over I-95 is now open! AIE is proud to have been part of the extraordinary team effort that brought the Fairfield Avenue Bridge over I-95 in Norwalk back into service! After the bridge was severely damaged by a truck fire in May, the Connecticut Department of Transportation issued an emergency call to action. AIE quickly mobilized to support the demolition of the overpass, which was critical to reopening I-95 and minimizing the economic and community disruptions caused by the highway closure. Under the leadership of Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc. and in collaboration with CTDOT and other state agencies, the team worked tirelessly to demolish the damaged structure and rebuild a new bridge in record time. The yearly event aims to bring CT’s business community together for a major fun-filled networking event to mix & mingle.   We had a great time connecting with hundreds of our fellow Connecticut-based business professionals and elected officials from across the state and had a great time engaging in insightful discussions.   Yesterday’s keynote speaker included Former Athlete Renee Montgomery, a two-time WNBA champion and words from Governor Ned Lamont of CT. AIE is providing construction engineering and inspection services for CTDOT on the build and fit-out of a new, ADA-compliant passenger rail station along the New Haven-Springfield line, served by Amtrak and CT Rail. This accessible, modern facility will feature a 520-foot high-level platform for easy boarding, extensive parking with EV charging stations, and seamless connections to the Windsor Locks Canal Trail and Bradley Airport. Our work includes comprehensive improvements to Main Street’s streetscape, pedestrian access, and traffic control, as well as constructing a multi-purpose trail and relocating roads and utilities. The station’s 800-square-foot utility building will house vital systems, such as snowmelt, lighting, security, and emergency power, alongside real-time travel updates for bus, train, and air travel. As part of this project, we're also upgrading the track infrastructure with dual tracks and advanced switching at the Grey and Garden interlocks, along with enhanced crossings, drainage, and pedestrian signals in preparation for CTDOT’s Hartford-Springfield rail expansion. Our team is conducting careful monitoring to protect the adjacent historic train station throughout construction. Work is ongoing day and night, with meticulous coordination across Amtrak’s Signal, Power, Communication, and Track teams to minimize impacts on rail and road traffic.
