🌍 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 - At a time when companies committed to the #net #zero target need to be reassured about the quality of the carbon credits they purchase, The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has approved a #methodology that is often used by developers of #reforestation projects in the tropical belt – Verra’s VM0047. This means carbon credits generated under this recently improved methodology are considered #high #quality. ✅ Since there is an urgent need to scale up quality reforestation projects on top of emission reduction, this news – a priori technical – can become good news for #nature. 💡𝗚𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳-𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 - No doubt there are still challenges ahead, challenges we need to overcome to unlock the full potential of the #voluntary #carbon #market for the planet’s sustainability. Beyond the fact that the ICVCM itself will have to demonstrate its own integrity in the long term (🙂), the debates at #COP29 and even in Brussels (CRCF) are significant: the world has not yet converged on what makes a carbon credit of high quality. But we are making steps forward, and hopefully the high-quality #standards that are recognized in the voluntary carbon market will inspire #worldwide #regulations on carbon. Meanwhile, let’s trust one thing that is based on the sole baseline of common sense: when properly executed, recreating #large-#scale nature-like forests is good for nature, of which we are part.

Because restoring Nature requires a holistic approach, we are pleased to announce aDryada is now a member of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER), joining over 5,000 other members from more than 130 countries.  What does ecological restoration mean? It means assisting the recovery of a degraded or damaged ecosystem by creating and/or accelerating the conditions in which ecosystems can recover naturally. This is directly what aDryada puts into practice in its large-scale #reforestation projects all over the world: when restoring nature, we aim to restore entire landscapes at scale, going beyond simply targeting High Conservation Value areas.  We are convinced the methodology of the Society for Ecological Restoration is the best one to achieve this: among the 18 ecosystem characteristics that are considered, aDryada can select KPIs that are perfectly tailored for the ecosystem of the projects - making sure that restoration is holistic and enables nature to recover itself. #NatureBasedSolutions #ClimateSolutions #CarbonCredits #CRCF #removal

  • Irony of history? While the #NatureRestoration law has just received a final green light, the European regulation on #CarbonRemoval #CRCF threatens the financing of #reforestation and sustainable forest management projects, in Europe and the tropical zone. aDryada is part of the new #NBScoalition, which brings together actors from around the world. Objective: convince European authorities to build a CRCF that favors the financing of quality reforestation and sustainable forest management projects, to reach our common objectives on #climate and #biodiversity. New members are welcome! • Merci Juan Carlos Gonzalez Aybar. It's the story of a beautiful meeting, initiated by friends, all part of a community that shares the same vision of actions we need to take to protect biodiversity! Organization for Biodiversity Certificates

Here we are ! Today aDryada and the pioneer company Fronterra signed an agreement to scale-up high-quality #reforestation and #afforestation projects in Latin America, which has the potential to become one of the most robust #NatureBased solutions up-stream markets. As Fabio Ferrari says, "a more structured market is coming to achieve global targets for CO2 sequestration - between 5 and 10gtCO2 per year by 2050. The Symbiosis Coalition announcement in May is a very big step on the demand side. Let's speed up the supply side too!”

  • On the 29th of May, aDryada, its partner Samar Bamboo Corporation, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines, represented by Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, signed a MoU to deploy the country’s largest #reforestation project in the island of #Samar (90 000 ha of degraded land to be restored). The Green Samar project supports the priorities of the Philippine Government : #NatureBasedSolutions are a critical tool in the country’s arsenal to mitigate the effects of #climatechange. The projects is also to maximize the positive impacts on #biodiversity and support livelihoods of the surrounding communities through the development of bamboo economical activities in the vicinity of the Samar Island Natural Park, thus generating high-quality #carboncredits. https://lnkd.in/eEdGdWiT

Thanks to EcoAct for its commitment to the OBC collective project, and in particular within the “Market” core team, including Kering, Gold Standard, aDryada, Planète Urgence and Noé which works in collaboration with EY. To achieve the Kunming's objectives, what concrete roadmap for companies, what claims? The questions are complex. To respond together at #COP16, in line with the International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits, the commitment and expertise of EcoAct are essential. A huge Welcome to Mathilde MIGNOT, Emilie ALBEROLA and Sabrina CAPON in particular.

📣📣📣 EcoAct is delighted to join the Organization for Biodiversity Certificates (OBC)! 🌸 What is OBC? An association bringing together several private and public actors to build methodologies allowing the development of #biodiversity certificates or credits 🍃 🌸 What is the role of EcoAct? We joined the working group which is considering the establishment of a market specific to biodiversity, like that on #carbon. 🌸 What could be the conclusions of the working groups? Biodiversity certificates could be a real accelerator in the protection and restoration of ecosystems! 🌬️ Future methodologies used for our own projects and those proposed to our clients would make it possible to measure the value of our biodiversity projects and to highlight the numerous co-benefits of carbon projects.
