I’ve seen several surgical programs achieve remarkable 10–20% year-over-year growth in surgical volumes. What sets these programs apart is their foresight in building a robust integrated medical arm well in advance. This strategic investment has significantly strengthened their surgical pipeline over the last 3–4 years. The key word here is robust—patients can quickly spot when a program offers a superficial or poorly executed medical component, and with so many options available, they’ll seek care elsewhere if it doesn’t meet their expectations. At Accomplish Health, we’re partnering with surgical centers nationwide to develop modern Obesity Centers of Excellence—fully integrated, comprehensive care experiences tailored to meet the needs of today’s patients living with obesity. By combining cutting-edge medical weight management with top-tier surgical care, we help programs differentiate themselves, attract more patients, and drive long-term success. Metabolic Bariatric Surgery in the Era of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists for Obesity Management - - - A new study reveals a 132% surge in GLP-1 prescriptions (semaglutide & liraglutide) for obesity from 2022 to 2023*, while metabolic bariatric surgeries dropped by ~25% during the same study period. Key findings: 🔹 GLP-1 users tend to be younger and less medically complex than surgery patients. 🔹 Only 6% of eligible patients pursued either GLP-1 treatment or surgery, highlighting a vast unmet need in obesity care. 🔹 Cost, side effects, and shortages of GLP-1 meds raise questions about long-term sustainability. This shift underscores the growing impact of GLP-1 meds but also highlights the importance of maintaining access to all effective obesity treatments. *comparing the last 6 months of 2022 to the last 6 months of 2023 https://lnkd.in/gUc9sjkG #ObesityCare #GLP1 #BariatricSurgery #WeightLoss
