Greetings and Happy Holidays! I am privileged and humbled to write this holiday season as this year’s ACC-NYC Chapter President. I have been an active member of the Chapter for over 10 years and, as I look back on that time, I am filled with immense gratitude for this community. Our members and sponsors are the lifeblood of this organization and, together, my hope is that we will continue building a vibrant legal community in the upcoming year. Reflecting on 2024, we had a busy and successful year and achieved many of our goals. As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue to build on our momentum in the following areas: 1) Full Day General Counsel Toolkit: Be sure to mark your calendar for our next General Counsel Toolkit on Tuesday, June 10th, which promises to be a fantastic event. This annual event delivers numerous CLE credits and an exceptional opportunity to network with our members and sponsors. 2) Continued Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: As a chapter, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion. This past year, we held our first LGBTQ+ PRIDE event in partnership with Meta’s Pride@Legal employee resource group, which featured a powerhouse panel of leaders. Our revitalized Women & Gender Group held numerous events, including a financial literacy workshop, and has exciting plans to continue growing the community in 2025. Help us with this mission by joining our Diversity Group, Women & Gender Steering Committee or one of our other affinity groups. 3) Career Development with our “Career Corner” Group: Our newly rebranded “Career Corner” group is dedicated to professional development at all stages of your career. We hosted successful events with Fordham Law and Brooklyn Law School as well as an “ask me anything” with a chapter board member about navigating the “new to in-house” transition. 4) Pro Bono and Give-Back Events: Next year, we want to invest more in pro bono initiatives and other events supporting our community. 5) Membership Volunteers: We are always looking for more volunteer members and are actively seeking Practice Group Chairs for privacy & cyber, employment law, intellectual property, and other cutting-edge practice areas. I invite you to reach out if you are interested in becoming more active with the Chapter. I want to thank our dedicated Board of Directors for their exceptional service in support of our Chapter. A special thanks goes out to our immediate past president, Tia Gilford, CIPP-US Gilford, for her inspirational leadership and indelible impact on our Chapter. Finally, I thank our Practice Group co-chairs and Chapter volunteers for their incredible contributions over the year. On behalf of the ACC-NYC Board, we look forward to serving the Chapter and building an even stronger ACC-NYC community together in 2025. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season and a happy & healthy New Year. Kate McMenamy ACC-NYC, President
