Have you checked out our knowledge hub yet? 🧠 As part of our goal to help you with navigating freshwater management requirements, we’ve created a hub of resources which includes past cases and reports. 🌱 One of our recent cases includes the work done by Dr Clint Rissman, Poppie Hardie, and Sarah Crooks from Land and Water Science. Through A2E, the team were able to support the Puerua-Waitepeka Catchment Group with a water quality monitoring programme. 🌊 ➡️ To read more about this case, visit our knowledge hub: https://lnkd.in/dukJ-qfc

🌊 Under the NPS-FM, councils must follow the National Objectives Framework, including baseline attribute state setting. Through A2E, Dr. Roger Young (Cawthron Institute) reviewed and verified West Coast Regional Council’s (WCRC) methodology for setting baseline attribute states, covering water quality, river class mapping, and data analysis. Dr. Kirill Shchapov also identified a range of parameters to WCRC and recommended a lake management framework. 🌱 Read more about our expert’s support here: https://lnkd.in/dmP9rQSE

🌊 Taranaki Regional Council and Horizons Regional Council sought expert advice on mitigation strategies for reducing E. coli concentrations in waterways. Through A2E, Richard Muirhead (AgResearch) and Sandy Elliot (NIWA) reviewed existing literature and recommended various mitigation strategies, including land retirement, stream fencing, and improved wastewater treatment. It is critical advice that will help both councils identify strategies to model in terms of costs and benefits. ➡ Read more about our expert’s recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/dawra-SA

Important update on Access to Experts 💧 Access to Experts (A2E) is proud to be supporting catchment groups, iwi and hapū and regional councils nationwide protect their local waterways. 🌊 We’re experiencing strong interest in the service, and we’ve received an overwhelming number of requests for support. We may soon exhaust our fund allocation ahead of the June 2025 end date. 🚫 As a result, we have paused our review of any new applications for the service from 23 August 2024. This also means we’ll pause our review of expressions of interest to join the expert panel, as well as our onboarding of new experts. 🌱 We would like to acknowledge those who have helped make the service a success for groups across New Zealand – thank you for your contribution. If you’d like to speak to someone, our friendly team can be contacted via phone or email. 📞 📩 For more information, head to our website ⬇️ www.access2experts.net.nz/
