About us

Abound Health is a North Carolina Statewide agency that provides a comprehensive array of supports and services to children and adults of all ages, with all types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Abound was created out of necessity more than 20 years ago when founders Janet and Rusty Presson grew tired of searching for quality services for their young son diagnosed with Autism. They decided to enter the marketplace themselves and thus A Small Miracle born. Much as has changed in that time, but just as importantly, many things have not. Abound remains a place that individuals and families with special needs turn to for high impact services and supports delivered in a nurturing and environment. Since becoming an Aymira company in 2015, Abound Health has also been leading the way in the convergence of EHR technology and specialty care services. Our agency today is largely paperless, and completely data driven. We are embracing the industry’s move towards national initiatives like EVV, HIE, and Value Based Payments.

  • At Abound Health, we had the incredible opportunity to fulfill one man's lifelong dream on a Saturday morning in Winston-Salem. Our cherished client, Adam, a passionate Volkswagen enthusiast, had always dreamed of riding in a VW Van. Thanks to Abound Health's Dream Squad and the Triad Volkswagen Association, we were able to make this dream a reality for him. Adam's love for VW Vans, which he affectionately calls "Filmores" after the character in the Disney movie "Cars," touched our hearts. Witnessing Adam experience his dream was especially meaningful to us. Adam then led a parade of Filmores through Winston-Salem, escorted by the police. This heartwarming event showcased the power of dreams and the positive impact Abound Health can make in the lives of our clients. Thank you WXII 12 Triad CW for sharing this experience with us, and thank you Winston-Salem Police Department for our escort. Learn more about Adam's experience here: https://lnkd.in/gkhDTXmp

  • Exceptional caregivers are at the heart of what we do at Abound Health, and it is our privilege to highlight them for their service. We are excited to share the story of DSP Swindell Coley. For over 20 years, Swindell has empowered his clients to reach new heights, remaining humble along the way. His approach to his role goes beyond mere employment; he treats it as a calling, consistently focusing on positively impacting his clients' lives. But don't take our word for it. Swindell was recently the recipient of the Mayor's Trophy from the City of Goldsboro for his outstanding contributions to the IDD community, a testament to his dedication and the quality of care he provides. Thank you Swindell for being an example of service to us all!

  • Giving season has arrived and it is flourishing at Abound! 🍁 We had the amazing privilege to devote our latest team building event to service in our community. From volunteering at local non-profits and nursing homes to purchasing gifts for Angel Trees, we were reminded of the power of giving back to others. Special thanks to everyone that made this day memorable, and cheers to more team building events to come!

  • In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month and Disability Employment Awareness Month, we celebrate client Matthew Schwab, a 25-year-old advocate from North Carolina. Recently, he achieved his dream of living independently by moving into an apartment with his younger brother. Matthew is a passionate public speaker raising awareness about Down syndrome. Not only is he active in the workforce at 321 Coffee and Ruckus Pizza, but he also champions his IDD community to do the same. Additionally, he volunteers at GiGi’s Playhouse, connecting the Youth Board with the Board of Managers. This October, let’s continue to uplift the voices within the Down Syndrome community, as well as share our advocacy with others.

  • Our hearts are heavy this week as we stand in solidarity with those in the Carolinas affected by Hurricane Helene. Many members of our Abound family have been directly impacted, and we are dedicated to supporting them as they begin the rebuilding process. As we move forward, we want to share a powerful reminder of hope from Mr. Rogers: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” If you or someone in the Abound family has been affected by this storm and needs assistance, please send us a direct message. We are here to support you. Below are some resources that may be helpful: FEMA Assistance: To apply for FEMA aid, visit disasterassistance.gov or use the FEMA App. Water Safety: For information on water advisories, check the CDC's guidelines here: https://lnkd.in/epG_UMxF Stay updated on road conditions at drivenc.gov Crisis Support: If you are experiencing a personal crisis, you can reach out to the Crisis Line at 988. For those not in immediate crisis but needing someone to talk to, call the North Carolina Warm Line at 1-855-733-7762. Together, we can help each other through this challenging time
