You're struggling with performance monitoring consistency. How can you prevent workflow disruptions?
To prevent disruptions in your workflow, effective performance monitoring is crucial. Here's how to maintain consistency:
- Establish regular check-ins. Create a schedule for reviewing performance data to catch issues early.
- Use automated tools. Implement software that continuously tracks performance metrics.
- Foster open communication. Encourage team members to report potential problems promptly.

Selecting right measurements to be applied to specific process is important.. for example, using rotary or blade where unable to differenciate the shearforces are coming from fiber or Calcium carbonate while the dosing of calcium carbonate is unpredicted or uncontrolable. It will causing wrong correction cause measurements unable to see the disturbances then control will keep calm cause it doesn't see any changes to be corrected. Dilution sizing also take important function, when it is over or undersize, it will not giving enough room to let control taking correction. Next important things is knowledge of control (PID) tuning.. most automation engineer did it by guessing majic number for gain and time constant without know process response

I implement automated monitoring tools combined with scheduled performance reviews to detect issues early. Clear metrics and real-time alerts help prevent workflow disruptions. My focus balances proactive monitoring with minimal process interference. The systematic tracking of KPIs and open communication channels ensures continuous workflow optimization.

To avoid work flow disruptions, we carry out standup meeting of the team everyday at 4.00 pm to understand minor and major issues to understand problems faced, smart directional flow to the engineers and accordingly decide the priority levels incase of any obstruction.

A few things that we have integrated in our workflow are Automated monitoring, Auto scaling, and customised alerts. One example- For a Web based application we have configured auto scaling to scale up or down depending on the traffic. We have crafted and schduled scripts to automate the dataflow. In the Scripts we have customised alerts to alert the designated team w.r.to the error.

To address performance monitoring consistency and prevent workflow disruptions, implement real-time monitoring with predefined KPIs to track bot performance and pinpoint inefficiencies. Set up alerts (e.g., email, MS Teams) for bot failures. Use automated error handling with retry mechanisms and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring issues. Regularly optimize bot performance through incident management for tracking purposes. Centralize monitoring in dashboards and establish strong governance to ensure consistent and reliable automation performance.

Performance monitoring is fine, but imo you can't rely solely on automated/software tools. In a manufacturing environment, Operators will adjust machines and run them at 110% to keep up with the shift part count and run a failing machine to destruction rather than risk getting reprimanded for coming up short. So the software will likely see nothing amiss until the line is down completely. Investing in preventative maintenance, skilled maintenance, and training operators and supervisors to accept some small downtime to avoid major downtime when necessary.

automated tools help with routine monitoring or objective tracking, an open communication culture is essential. Encourage team members to discuss challenges, successes, or blockers through regular, brief check-ins (for example, weekly meetings). These sessions should focus on support rather than detailed reporting.

1. Automate Monitoring: Use tools to continuously track metrics, reducing manual errors and focusing on critical tasks. 2. Set Benchmarks & Alerts: Define performance thresholds and configure alerts for early issue detection. 3. Regular Reviews: Review performance data regularly to identify trends and refine workflows. 4. Redundancy Plans: Implement fail-safes and backups for smooth operation during failures. 5. Cross-Training: Train team members in multiple areas for better continuity.
