Creating camaraderie among remote team is always challenging as the team members donot see each other on a regular basis which inturn make them feel the fellow team member as a stranger rather than a good ally. This relationship can be improved by 1. Pair programming - The team members work in pairs on a particular task and see to it that task is completed. After a particular task is completed, it should be ensured that same two team members are not working again together for a particular period. This will help each individuals know other better. 2. Knowledge sharing sessions - wherein each team member on a roundrobin basis can provide insights on their lesson learnt or knowledge gained. This will help others too and build rapport.

I implement regular virtual team-building activities, such as icebreakers and informal check-ins, to help build trust. Encouraging open communication through collaborative tools like Slack or Teams keeps the team connected. Additionally, I celebrate milestones and publicly recognize individual contributions. By promoting shared goals and cultivating a supportive culture, teamwork can thrive even across distances.

1. Have different people lead meetings. They will have their time to shine, be actively involved and interact with other team members. 2. Cameras on when in meetings to foster integration. 3. Group projects. Creat teams to work on specifics projects. Adding a different or disruptive member to the usual team will give you wider vision and will also create alliances and connections with team members that don’t usually work together. 4. Collaborate tools. When people have to work together they will have to communicate and interact. 5. Games and ice-breakers every once in a while. Remote work has brought many advantages however it will never replace the connections that in-person work created.

First of all I think its important to acknowledge that managing remote team is not as easy as onsite teams. And honestly you will never be able to have the same level of connection and strong relationships. However there are certain things you can do to build teamwork and camaraderie. Ofc regular checkins that have a non-professional character. Or think about being at the office and you have a chat with someone at the coffee machine? You could make a virtual copy of that. Me and my team set up a daily morning coffee chat at 8.30am. Whoever wanted to join, joined. On the other hand try to get people together at least twice a year for an offline event.

If possible, hold a shared experience event. The team has to know each other. Teamwork starts with trust. Have regular virtual meetings that start with icebreakers. Play games. Let them get to know each other. Encourage cameras on at all times. It would be better to start this before the actual teamwork has to happen.
