There are three easy ways you can reignite your motivation. First, be intentional about acknowledging the impact and positive changes you’ve contributed through your previous community efforts. You can do this by reviewing old photos, articles, thank you notes or summary reports from prior projects. Reviewing items that remind you about the ways you’ve improved lives and systems can reignite motivation. You may also want to reconnect with encouraging friends, loved ones or colleagues that know and appreciate your strengths. Finally, try taking a break that allows you to visit a new community, start a new hobby or focus on self-care. A change of pace that includes positive affirmations can motivate and reignite inspiration.

Sometimes we get stuck in outreach efforts because we stick with what is comfortable and what has “always been done” and worked in the past. Changes in attitude and motivation occur over time and it’s important to think outside the box. The key to influence in outreach is motivating people to be part of the organization”s goals. Ask the brand new college graduate or college intern what motivates them. Outreach must flow with the changes in society and including people of the younger and older generation will help you understand what new techniques are needed for outreach. It takes work but is worth it. Change is good.

1. Set small goals – focus on achievable steps, like three quality contacts over quantity. 2. Make successes visible – a quick success log shows how far I’ve come and sparks new energy. 3. Switch up outreach methods – from video messages to LinkedIn posts, variety keeps things engaging. 4. Reflect and adapt – analyze what works and learn from what doesn’t. 5. Invest in self-care – taking breaks or setting boundaries prevents burnout and keeps focus clear. The key: always remember the “why” behind the outreach.
