Listening is a good place to start. Revisit stakeholder vision to better understand motivations. This can reveal unexpressed elements that weren’t captured originally. Then re-examine user feedback to see if changes are necessary in sampling, methodology, or presentation. Keep in mind, If you’re working on a project where you observe users (as opposed to automated data collection) specific quotes and video can be more compelling to stakeholders than numbers and charts. If there’s still a gap between stakeholder preference and data, try involving stakeholders in your research. Get input on your research plan before implementation, and, if you collect data in-person, invite stakeholders to observe. This can be very compelling.
