When team members know that there is enough time to express their thoughts/research, they communicate effectively reducing the confusion and misunderstanding. My team usually meets twice a week for 30 minutes each, but once every month, we book an entire afternoon to discuss the obstacles, new research, and if someone needs help. We have observed that longer meetings usually solve more problems and help people understand what everyone is doing.

It is great to have people from different fields join together to work on a project, but the diverse areas of focus and experience can often lead to a collaborative team effort becoming a solo mission for every individual. It’s important to keep everyone’s eyes on the goals that are to be achieved, so to that end: 1. Come together- virtually or in-person- to establish the goals and targets for the entire team 2. Discuss how each person’s work will contribute to the overall picture 3. Plan regular meetings to catch up and review the team’s progress In this way every team member knows how their own work will impact other people, and if an issue arises there is at least one established method of communication to resolve that💡
