When I worked for public health, I encountered many situations where a patient might be upset. It was common for fellow employees to call on me to assist with patients that were upset. I would listen to the situation and look at it from the patient's point of view. I would then try to deescalate the situation, by coming up with a solution that worked for both of us. I made it my ultimate goal to have a satisfied patient. There were times I would strive to get a smile out of an unhappy patient, and often I would succeed. There's no greater feeling than to make someone's day brighter!
