Be open with the budget Sounds simple, but think of it this way You have budget for an Kia but pick a Ferrari and start removing parts to reduce cost. Remove the wheels, remove the engine, .... I think you got the idea.. You do not get a car, you get a heap of junk metal. Same with ERP. Within a specific cost the objective can be achieved but the architect needs to know that cost while making the design at presales stage. I have been part of 500+ ERP designs in presales, sales and delivery. The budget is never the issue, the lack of clarity is the issue. Once the project starts and funds are committed, trying to cut costs is like removing the engine from the Ferrari and wondering why it does not work

I think ERP Solution shall be selected as per the requirement , scale and complexity of the business whether its customised or ready made solutions. There are no fixed formula for the same to implement but, one thing sure when u do plan to implement, make sure to cover all aspects of the business so that u don't end up paying double the cost for customization of same ERP if implemented in phases.
