Urge them to stop worrying about the future and concentrate on the here and now instead of becoming overwhelmed by it. To lower stress and increase focus, lead mindfulness activities like deep breathing or grounding techniques. Encourage precise, methodical action plans to address obstacles while maintaining openness and mutual understanding. Compassionately reflect on failures to promote learning and resilience.

Mindfulness for me isn’t just about silence—it’s about leaning into discomfort. In one leadership moment, faced with a tough question I couldn’t answer, I chose vulnerability. Instead of deflecting, I admitted, “I’m struggling with this, too.” That honesty shifted the tone, building trust and fostering collaboration. As leaders and humans, we don’t always have answers. Acknowledging that isn’t surrender—it’s a mindful focus on what we can influence. I also use body scanning to stay grounded, noting sensations in my body to prevent stress from taking over. This practice keeps me present, enabling me to lead with clarity and communicate with confidence, even in uncertainty.

The role of a leader starts from the good times & the team should have that confidence, they have someone to fallback upon. This confidence will make the team to be open with the leader in general. The turmoil happens when people work in silos. A team working as one solid unit, rarely will face such turmoil. Clear communication with stakeholders is always beneficial. Still, if some crisis arise, the leader ought to own the crisis first and then go for finding solutions. No situation is irreversible if everyone owns up to the responsibilities & work toward a possible solution. As I said in the beginning, the buck stops at the leader. His/her approach towards the team before the crisis period, will be more detrimental in a possible solution

A Leader is like a mirror to its team. They reflect and follow what he/she projects and models. If the leader's go-to response is to panic and lose control, so will the team. Here Mindfulness can help both. Sometimes, when you are too near a fire, your senses go numb except the sensation of heat. Similarly, a leader and his/her team can too get overwhelmed and boggled by a crisis and the best way is not to move forward but to take a step-back and find your breath. There is where the magic begins and the control restores.

One valuable aspect of incorporating mindfulness into my daily work has been its role in building resilience. By consciously observing my emotions during challenging moments, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the lens through which I view situations. I’ve learned to observe this lens rather than be confined by it. This practice has enabled me to step back, detach from the intensity of the situation, and approach it with calm and curiosity.
